Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is -his good, pleasing and perfect will. NIV
Have you ever wondered why Satan tries so hard to get a hold of our thoughts? Have you ever had a thought completely consume you to the point it’s all you can think about or focus on? Have you ever lay awake at night tossing and turning not able to shut your brain off enough to get the rest our bodies so desperately need? Well if you answered yes to any of the above I’m here to tell you that it’s no accident or coincidence. What if I was to tell you that our minds are a constant battleground of the flesh and spirit? Would you believe me? Ever notice how capitivating certain thoughts can be? It’s no mistake when the enemy targets our minds, because he knows that once he has our minds we become a prisoner to our thought processes.
Romans 8:6 NIV says “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace”.
Did you catch that? A mind governed by the Spirit (God’s Holy Spirit) is LIFE and PEACE! My God, that’s powerful! I don’t know about you but when I‘m tossing and turning at night due to the daily stressors of life I feel the furthest thing from peace. If anything the word that comes to mind more accurately to represent what I feel during those moments would be anxiety. Philippians 4:7 NIV says “and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”. When I read my bible and begin to truly trust in the Lord will all my heart and lean not on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) I begin to feel all heaviness fade away. Do you realize that once we win the battle over our thoughts we become UNSTOPPABLE in Christ Jesus! Nothing and no one the enemy attempts to throw in our way can succeed. (Isaiah 54:17)
Do you realize that we are created in the image of God? (Genesis 1:27) Psalms 82:6 says, ”I said you are ”gods”; you are all sons of the Most High”. That means that we are designed perfectly in God’s eyes. Just like each of us have our very own fingerprints, there will never be another ”you” ever again. If we are sons of the most high then we must rest assured knowing that our Daddy Jesus has our back. God says in his word that he will never leave us nor forsake us, that means he is with us through every battle we face. God’s word says that, The Lord owns the cattle on a thosand hills, that he knows every bird in the mountains and every insect in the fields. In other words there is nothing on this earth that God himself doesn’t own! Remember that we serve the living God, the creator of all creation. In Matthew chapter 10 it says that every hair on our head is counted by God himself and that we are worth more than many sparrows.
God will never withhold our needs from us, just like a parent would go to the ends of the earth to provide for their children. Know that God loves us for we are fearfully and wonderfully made. We don’t ever have to stay prisoner to the lies of the enemy that constantly gets whispered in our ears. Walk in who you know you are, walk in who God called you to be. Matthew chapter 6 speaks to worry, assuring us that just like the birds of the air are fed and the flowers clothed we too will be taken care of when we rest in the arms of Jesus! Matthew 6:33 NIV ”But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”.
I hope and pray this devotional encourages you today and remember as always to walk in faith, in love, and IN PURPOSE!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Truly it means the world
Love this Jennie! The mind is indeed the battlefield where many of our battles are fought, some of which we win and some we lose, depending on how we apply the word of God and trust Him through he process of the attack of the mind. Thanks for the wonderful way in which you presented this piece; the scripture- laced-presentation is impressive! In my impression, you can't have too many scriptures in your delivery of the word or encouragement or empowerment dialogue. The word is powerful!
Much love to you. Keep up the great work. Thanks for providing this medium for the youth to have a voice. May God bless all of your endeavors.
